Minute To Win It Games
How about some fun for the first week back of term? Why not spend an hour or so together laughing as a class; bonding, creating that connection again after holidays and testing their teamwork skills.
Below you will find some Minute To Win It Games that I have played with my gems before, and it has always been a blast. Allocate students into teams, set the timer, keep tabs on the score on the board and celebrate the winners at the end.
Some great games to play using very little equipment include;
Provide each team with a balloon. The goal is to keep it up in the air for one minute. Point goes to the teams that did.
Provide each team with a balloon for each team member. The goal is to run to one end of the room with their balloon and sit on a chair using their bottom to pop it. Points are given to each team for the number of balloons they pop in one minute.
Provide each team with a rolled-up newspaper and a feather. The goal is to flap the newspaper to create a wind to push a feather across the room to the other side in one minute. Points are given to the fastest team.
Provide each team with two bowls. One empty and one bowl full of dominoes, lego, dice or something similar. Teams line up with their bowls at either end. The first player with the full bowl of items passes it one item at a time down to the person with the empty bowl. When it reaches the bowl then the first player can pass the next item and so on for one minute. Points are given to the team with the most items in the bowl at the end.
Provide each team with a bottle full of with water and no lid and tennis ball. The goal is for each team to knock over their bottle, tipping the water out. Each time the bottle is hit someone must run and stand the bottle back up. And they aim to hit the bottle again. Points are given to the team with the bottle with the least water at the end of one minute.
Provide each team with a 5c piece. The goal is to put the 5 cent piece on their elbow and they must try to catch it. Points are given for every time they catch it within one minute. This game can be played several times to allow for each player in the team to attempt it.
Set the timer for one minute. Everyone gets down into a plank position. The goal is to stay up in this position for one minute. Points are given for each child who lasted the full minute.
Provide a heap of lego blocks to each team. The goal is for one person from each team to build the highest lego tower in one minute using only one hand. Point goes to the person with the highest tower. This game can be played several times allowing for each person on the team to have a go.
Provide each team with a pencil and paper. The goal is to write down as many sports as they can think of in one minute. Points are given to the team with the most sports.
Provide each team with a pencil and paper. The goal is to write down as many countries as they can think of in one minute. Points are given to the team with the most countries.
Provide a bowl of jelly (set) with marbles inside. The goal is to pull the marbles out of a bowl using their toes only. Points are given for each marble they pull out. Have several bowls of jelly with marbles in them ready for each player.
Provide teams with post-it notes. The goal is to cover one teammate with as many post-it notes that will stick. The winning team is that which has the most post-it notes stuck after one minute.
Provide each team with bean bags and a hoop. Place the hoop a few metres away. The goal is for team members to take turns and throw a bean bag aiming to get it into the hoop. Points are given to the team with the most bean bags in their hoop at the end of one minute.
Provide a pile of flour with a wrapped lolly in the middle. The goal is for students to place their hands behind their back and use their teeth only to try to get the lolly out of the flour. Points are given for those students who can get the lolly out before a minute is up.
