Fathers Day Activities
Fathers Day in Australia this year will be celebrated on Sunday the 6 September. Only a few weeks away. Help your class make their dad’s day special by suggesting or working together to pull these gift ideas off.
something for him to treasure - Fathers Day card - decorate a card and write the top ten things you love about your dad. Take your time and try to be thoughtful and write it from your heart.
something for him to eat - Sweet Hot Chocolate Spoons - dip a wooden spoon in melted chocolate and decorate with sprinkles, marshmallows, chopped chocolate bar then allow it to set. Wrap in paper and children gift one to their dad to be placed in their hot chocolate and stirred.
something for him to wear on Father day - Tie - decorate a paper tie and laminate. Add a ribbon or elastic so dad can wear it all day long.
something for his table at work - Tillandsia terrarium - choose from a selection of tillandsias, place in a glass jar, place pebbles at the bottom (about a third of the jar), and some peat moss. Put a gift tag on it and you have yourself a gift. Air plants don’t need soil for nutrition, only support, so you can place them where you wish. Mist plants with a fine water spray.
something for him to remember - Photograph - make sure to take a photo with you and your dad on Fathers Day
something to make him laugh - Trivia Game - make your own trivia game with questions all about your dad - primary school he went to, his favourite food, how old he was when he had his first kiss, his first car, his nickname, what he likes to do in his free time, his favourite saying… Have your family compete to find out who knows your dad the best.
something to do together - Outing - organise or suggest things to do together - go for a walk around the neighbourhood, take your bikes out, kick the football around at the park…
something to play together - At home - organise a battle over a board game, work on a jigsaw puzzle together, go on a scavenger hunt together, host an outdoor or indoor movie night…
something for him to eat after a workout - Bliss Balls - 1 cup of almond meal, 10 dates, 2 teaspoons mixed spice, 1/3 cup cranberries. Put in processor and blend at high speed until the mixture resembles a fine, sticky crumb. Use your hands to shape the mixture into balls and place in the fridge to set. Gift to date, eat and enjoy.
