Father's Day Fun

Are you all ready and have organised Fathers Day activities for your students or are you quickly scrambling now to pull something together?

Hopefully, we can help with some great ideas for whether you are currently in the classroom or learning from home.

  • Students use tagxedo.com or EdWordle to create a word cloud using adjectives to describe their dads. Have them printed and laminated or framed

  • I love this Best Daddy Jelly Bean Jar template. Start collecting jars and ask your students to each bring in a bag of jellybeans to use

  • Have your students complete a ‘How Well Do I Know My Dad?’ poster

  • Invite your fathers into the classroom for some afternoon fun - organise a scavenger hunt, who can tie a tie the fastest? competition, have a dad joke-telling session, pamper session where kids paint their dads’ fingernails, doughnut-eating competition

  • Students complete a writing task on ‘what my dad brings to my life’ or ‘lessons I have learnt from my dad’

  • Students submit their favourite photo of their dad and themselves and create a class slideshow for all the dads to watch

  • Share some picture books about dad with your class; Back To Sleep, My Daddy and Me, There’s Only One Dad Like You, Best Dad

  • Check out my Father’s Day Pinterest board for further ideas

What will you do with your class this year to make dad feel extra special? We would love it if you joined the conversation and left a comment below.
