Simplify Your Life With These Life Hacks

Life is just one big learning curve. We learn through mistakes, through trial and error and through experience. Do you ever stop and consider when you learn something new or is life all just consuming?

The other day I had a breakthrough when I yet again found a tissue in the washing machine after the washing had finished, leaving tissue fluff all over the clean clothes. It was a grey sky kinda day so I popped the clothes in the dryer instead of the line. Usually, I have to spend wasted time sticky rolling and picking the tissue fluff off the clothes but this time surprisingly when the clothes came out of the dryer there was no tissue to be found. I could not have been happier. What a great life hack!

So with that in mind, I wanted to quickly spread the word with others. How many other’s like me were spending hours getting tissue fluff off their clothes when we have so many better things to do with our life?

These are some of my other handy hints I have learnt through my life experience. Did you know?

  • Buying capsicum with a long stem means it will keep fresher for longer

  • Leave the stem on fresh beetroot when cooking it. It is easier to take the skin off this way.

  • Tomatoes keep better in the fridge, don’t ripen then

  • Take all fruits and vegetables out of plastic bags when placing them in the fridge

  • By keeping celery in water in a jar, cut into pieces, you will find it keeps longer

  • If you only use half your sweet potato and don’t need the rest, peel it and leave it in the bottom of the fridge, it will last longer

  • Be mindful that chicken will only last two to three days after you cook it

  • Sweet potato keeps longer in the fridge if you peel it

  • Keep your onions and potatoes in a separate box in the pantry

  • Cut the lid of the egg carton before putting them in the fridge. This saves having to open the carton each time as well as you can easily see how many eggs are left

  • Use eucalyptus oil to get sticky marks off things

  • Microfibre cloths are great for cleaning the inside of your car windscreen

  • Hot water bottle water makes good for watering the plants in the morning

  • Fake rubber snakes keep the birds away

  • Keep your vases in the laundry cupboards and use this space and your laundry tub to make your flower arrangements

  • To make water for your next bunch of flowers add 1L of water, 1/4tsp bleach, 2 tsp sugar and 1tsp vinegar

  • Making a Click and Collect order can save you hours of your life not walking the aisles of the supermarket

  • Put toothpaste over the brown bits on the iron and wipe off

  • When bills come in the mail, put them in payment due date order and place them on a clip in a prominent position so then you are conscious of when they must be paid

  • To open a tight jar, tap it three times on a breadboard and it should then open easily

  • Wear sunglasses when chopping onions to avoid tears

  • Put your roll of bin liners at the bottom of your garbage bin so they are there to use next time you take out the rubbish

  • Spray perfume on your warm spots (wrist, neck, and inside the elbows) for an intense scent

  • Spray perfume on your cool spots (neck, collar bones, and the back of the wrist) for a longer lasting scent
