Making Travel Memories For Keeps

I can guarantee anyone that has been on a holiday or two has a zillion photos sitting pretty on their phones or on memory cards in desk drawers waiting for the one day when they will be revisited and absorbed with enthusiasm and excitement.

Have you been looking for things to do whilst in lockdown due to no sporting training to drive your kids to or less travel time since you are working from home? Why not use this ‘extra downtime’ to be productive and do something with those photos from your travels.

You could;

  • Make postcards featuring your photography to send family and friends as a ‘wellbeing card’. Everyone loves receiving mail, especially when it is personalized and definitely not a bill. Try using companies such as; Visme, Vistaprint, Optimal Print, MyPostcard

  • Create a photo book or two of your different holidays. Photo books are the flash version of the photo album; back in the day when we would print photos and slip them in an album, then write next to each one location, date and identify who is in each photo. Makes for a great coffee table book and conversation point when people come to visit. Use companies such as Chatbooks, Popsa, Once Upon, Simple Prints

  • Share photos on your Instagram page, using the tag #tbt for Throw Back Thursday or #fromwhereiwouldratherbe. Or perhaps share a photo a day of you on your travels and others can guess where in the world you are

  • Create a video as a memory using apps such as Quik or Vimeo Create

  • Make gifts such as a puzzle, calendar or luggage tag or if you fancy, keep them for yourself. Use companies such as Harvey Norman or Shutterfly

  • You can make stickers too from your photos. Check out companies such as Moo

  • Sell your photos online as stock photos. Refer to this blog post I wrote for my information about the different companies

  • Get your photos enlarged, printed and framed for display around your house or even on a canvas. Try Snapfish for this or your local Kmart, Big W or Harvey Norman. Make a photo gallery wall or collage. Or print and gift to family or friends

  • Share your photos on an app such as Family Album that only your select people can see the photos so they are secure and safe

Have you done anything interesting with your travel photos? Or do you suffer from the ‘I will get around to it one-day’ syndrome? We would love it if you joined the conversation and left a comment below.
