Directed Drawing Favourites on YouTube

Back in my early years of teaching I had the whole collection of ‘How To Draw’ Drawing Books. I’m not the most talented of artists so I relied heavily on these books as I directed the students step by step. They were great for when I had a ten minute gap to fill.

These days you can just pop up YouTube and let them do all the work. There are some great YouTubers you can find on the web that offer great instructions for students to follow to be able to draw simple images.

My top five favourites include;

Muffalo Potato

Art For Kids Hub

Whimsy Workshop Teaching

Happy Drawings

Articco Drawing

Directed drawing is great for teaching students to follow directions, hand-eye coordination, listening skills, as well as covering art all at the same time.

Do you use directed drawing in your class? Is it something you teach or rely on YouTube for? We would love it if you joined the conversation and left a comment below.
