Searching For Rainbows
Our tears fell to the ground and they filled the dam.
It overflowed the night you went away.
The sun now shines but the water has left its mark.
Just like your legacy you left that day.
The water came sudden.
It came with intent.
We didn’t get to say goodbye.
Or tell you what you meant.
The rivers rose, the creeks overflowed.
As a result of the downpour.
You were someone, you were making a difference.
You have left an impact on us all.
The flood caused heartache, pain and regret.
How do you best be prepared?
Your eyes and smile masked it well.
If only you knew how much we cared.
Much was lost, most floated away.
Rebuilding is not so easy as some make it look.
Thankfully we have our photos and our memories.
You will be remembered as one of the best, in our book.
Crews have been called for flood support.
They show up in their boots without question.
If only we could have done the same for you.
You would have had all our love and attention.
Pieces are being put together.
Something was not right.
You must have had such pain.
But did not have the strength to fight.
After every storm passes,
We will search the sky for the rainbow.
Be at peace now.
You no longer have to be fearful.
