Time Saving Tips Whilst At The Airport

The more travel you do, the better you get at it. You soon learn ways of saving time and energy so it makes your time away, more enjoyable. .

There are actually a few tricks you can learn along the way to save time while you are travelling, particularly at the airport.

Try these out and let me know what you think;

  • Check-in online at home, 24 hours prior to your flight. You usually just need your booking number. The online check in queue is generally much shorter, and means less waiting time at the airport

  • Arrive to the airport with sufficient time before your flight. Arrive at least two hours prior to your flight to get through customs and security. The lines can be lengthy an you don’t want to get delayed

  • Know your flight number, time or who you are flying with so you can quickly scan the boards for your check in desk and gate number

  • Take your passport out of the case if you have one so you are ready for it to be scanned.

  • Ensure you have no water or liquids bigger than 250ml in your bag - it will get taken and holds you up

  • Grab your laptop out of your bag prior to getting to the security point - be ready to go

  • Take your big jacket off at security - don’t even wait to be asked

  • In certain countries, security will ask you to take your shoes off so its best if you wear slip-ons rather than ones with shoelaces - this all adds time

  • Don’t wear a belt or big jewellery on days you are flying. Just something else you will need to take off prior to going through security

  • Open your passport to the photo page when going through the gate so security can quickly scan it

  • Go to the toilet before getting on the plane

  • Have some snacks packed from home as food at the airport is generally very expensive

  • Fill up your water bottle once you are on your way to the gate - the filtered water is usually located near the toilets

  • If you plan to sleep while waiting for your flight, pack a bike lock so you can chain your bag to your seat and will still be there when you wake up

  • There is no rush to get on the plane unless you have a big carry on bag you need to put in the overhead storage
