Mongolia Madness
Our GAdventures two week trip around Mongolia had my sister and I laughing harder, longer and louder than ever before. We travelled with a beautiful and inspiring group of travellers, watched Mongolia’s finest athletes compete at the Naadam Festival, ate a tonne of mutton, stared in awe at the stunning landscape as we passed it by, battled mud puddles and river crossings and endured Ger camp living; flies and sauna’s and all. It was a blast.
If you are considering travelling to Mongolia, be prepared to have your mind blown. There is no way you can predict what you will see, feel and experience. From the bustling polluted city of Ulaanbaatar to the volcanic hills and green vast mountains where the nomads live and range free, it is all an experience.
Overview
there are lots of different animals like yaks, ground squirrels, vultures and reindeers
we hiked two volcanoes
I rode a horse for the first time ever
2 humped camels was a highlight
Roads are tracks – dirt and bumpy, scary. You really need a 4WD
Naadam Festival – similar to the Olympic Games and saw the Opening ceremony, archery comp, horse race, wrestling, knucklebone shooting
Stayed in Ger camps
Gers have a fireplace inside
Hot springs are cool to visit
The landscape is stunning and beautiful to see
Eat at high building restaurant with a view in Ulaanbaatar is a must
