All Your Questions Answered About Mayfield Gardens, Oberon

From the moment you drive in the tree-lined driveway of Mayfield Gardens, you know you are in for a good thing.

Visit the friendly staff for a map, who also suggests a good walking route, then set you off saying see you in four hours.

Where are the gardens?

Mayfield Gardens is in Oberon, NSW. It is a beautiful country drive to get there, around a three-hour drive from Sydney.

Is it expensive?

Comes with a bit of a price tag but if you plan on staying awhile it averages out. Admission is $35 for adults.

How long will I need?

Expect to be at the gardens for a minimum of two hours and possibly up to four hours. It is 15 hectares of open gardens. Spend the day if you wish, it is a beautiful space with lots of different areas to sit ponder, meditate, relax, and picnic.

Don’t get there too late in the day or you will be rushed. The last entry is at 3 p.m.

Is it a good place for kids?

Yes, plenty of areas to run and get their energy out. There is a maze, flying fox, swinging ropes, and even chickens to entertain the kids. There is a large sculpture to climb on too.

When is the best time to go?

Spring or Autumn - a great time to see the abundance of colours - leaves, trees and flowers are blooming.

What do I need to take?

Take a bag to put your jackets in as you work up a sweat walking around the gardens.

Wear comfortable walking shoes, and be prepared it is hilly. But worth the view from the Chapel at the top.

Pack a picnic to eat in the gardens or buy food in a cafe or van up on the hill. Think I saw one bin on the grounds so be prepared to take your rubbish home

WHY should I go?

If you are after somewhere relaxing, and peaceful, and surrounded by beautiful gardens, views from the chapel are incredible.
